The Philippine Stock Exchange, Inc. (PSE) celebrated International Women’s Day by joining the global Ring the Bell for Gender Equality event. Close to 90 stock exchanges worldwide will ring the bell from March 8 to 12 in support of gender equality advancement and women empowerment.
At the PSE, the special bell ringing ceremony was led by PSE President and CEO Ramon S. Monzon, Securities Clearing Corporation Philippines COO Renee D. Rubio, Capital Markets Integrity Corporation President Daisy P. Arce and members of PSE’s Management Committee. PSE Directors, guests from UN Global Compact Philippine Network, UN Women Philippines, and We Empower Asia attended the event virtually.
Every time we Ring the Bell for Gender Equality, we highlight our diversity numbers to show that we value women in PSE and there is no hindrance to their assuming leadership posts at the company”, said PSE President and CEO Ramon S. Monzon. Currently, four PSE Directors are women. Our Treasurer, Corporate Secretary and operating heads of our fully owned subsidiaries are women. Three of our eight Management Committee members and 12 of 19 Department Heads are women. As a company with 60-percent female employees, PSE will continue to adopt the Women Empowerment Principles. By providing equal employment and leadership opportunities for women, PSE is able to address in its own way UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 which aims to achieve Gender Equality.
The Ring the Bell for Gender Equality program is organized by the UN Global Compact, UN Women, Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative, International Finance Corporation, World Federation of Exchanges, and Women in ETFs.
