San Miguel Corporation (SMC) listed its Series 2-K Preferred Shares on the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) after the conclusion of its Php13.79 billion preferred shares offering. The capital raised from the follow-on offering will be primarily utilized by the company for its New Manila International Airport project in Bulacan, subscription to preferred shares in Bank of Commerce and refinancing of existing obligations.
The bell ringing event was viewed online by PSE and SMC Directors and Executives led by PSE Chairman Jose T. Pardo and SMC President and Chief Operating Officer Ramon S. Ang. Also in attendance were PSE Directors Chief Justice Teresita J. Leonardo-De Castro (ret.), Diosdado M. Arroyo, Consuelo D. Garcia, Edgardo G. Lacson, Roberto Cecilio O. Lim, Wilson L. Sy, Ma. Vivian Yuchengco, PSE Treasurer Omelita J. Tiangco, PSE Corporate Secretary Aissa V. Encarnacion, PSE Director and SMC CFO Ferdinand K. Constantino, and SMC Senior Vice President and Deputy Chief Finance Officer Joseph N. Pineda.
In his welcome remarks, PSE President and CEO Ramon S. Monzon noted that SMC is only the fifth company to hold back to back offerings, both follow-on and stock rights, on the same year in over two decades. Prior to its Series 2K Preferred Shares offering, SMC also listed its Series 2J Preferred Shares in October 2020. “The success of SMC’s second preferred shares offering is clearly a testament to the trust and confidence investors have on the plans and programs of the company and, of course, the vision of its leader, Mr. Ramon Ang, for San Miguel and the country.”
